Please Forgive Me God Author:Sister Mary Rose McGeady Sister Mary Rose McGeady throws it out there in plain language, and just her no-nonsense descriptions of the lives these kids have led are gripping. This thin and easy-to-read book uses a simple format, with 16 short chapters, each detailing a different teen. These teens have run away or been thrown out of their homes, generally from emotionally... more » or physically abusive situations. I think the one I'll remember the most is the overweight boy who was cast out of his home because he snored. Crazy.
McGeady's main point is support for these kids in the form of prayer. That theme rings loudly throughout the different stories. She recognizes the power of prayer, and she wields it. In the back of the book is also a "Family Survival Guide" of tips on communication and other facets of child-rearing.
Though I don't believe I've ever met a teen in this kind of situation, I sure appreciate the message, and the work that Covenant House is doing. Sister McGeady makes it real, not by sensationalizing but just by telling the true story. She has my prayers.« less
