Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner My mom recommended this book to me. First she said, "just ignore the title!" because she thinks I'm a bit of a prude. It's really a good book that I went on to recommend to my 23 year old daughter who thinks she is "fat" but isn't at all. Here's part of the book description (no spoilers): "For twenty-eight years, things have been tripping along nicely for Cannie Shapiro. Sure, her mother has come charging out of the closet, and her father has long since dropped out of her world. But she loves her friends, her rat terrier, Nifkin, and her job as pop culture reporter for The Philadelphia Examiner. She's even made a tenuous peace with her plus-size body. But the day she opens up a national women's magazine and sees the words "Loving a Larger Woman" above her ex-boyfriend's byline, Cannie is plunged into misery...and the most amazing year of her life. From Philadelphia to Hollywood and back home again, she charts a new course for herself: mourning her losses, facing her past, and figuring out who she is and who she can become." It is much more than just chick lit, and is wonderfully perceptive and descriptive regarding being plus-size. Take a look at some of the other reviews that PBS readers have submitted if you might be interested. And - of course! - it's on my bookshelf. In fact I have a second copy that I picked up at Goodwill waiting to post after I find a new home for this one. Cindy |

I was surprised how much I loved the book too. Her characters are great ! I also read IN HER SHOES by her and that was good also. I have two more of her titles on my TBR pile that I will read one of these days. |

Maybe I'm the only one, but I hated that book. So much so that I haven't tried reading any of her other books. |

I really enjoyed Night Swimming by Robin Schwarz and highly recommend it. (It is presently on my shelf.) |

I'm with you Stephanie...I didn't like the book at all either! In my opinion it was just whiney and unrealistic. There were a few humorous sections where Cannie was talking about her eating, etc. that I found funny, but the book as a whole I did not enjoy! I realize though that many people liked the book. I'm just stating that I personally didn't! |

Loved Good in Bed. Title has nothing to do with the storyline though! This is on my shelf if interested. Offering a 3 for 2! Last Edited on: 10/31/07 5:54 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I wasn't crazy about the book either. It was a little boring for me.... |

I thought this was the best of Jennifer Weiner's books - I found this one the easiest to get into, with In Her Shoes second. Could not get into Little Earthquakes, though. That went quickly back to my bookshelf, but no one's ordered it yet. |
