When I start one of Doherty's Egyptian mysteries, I often say to myself, "Do I really want to read about another deadly conspiracy?"

But once started, I find myself quickly turning the pages to discover the answers with Doherty's hero Amerotke, Chief Judge of the Halls of Two Truths.
