I picked up this book because of the picture of the dog and the lil Pope on the cover. And I'm glad I did!

This book had me laughing from cover to cover. The author manages to strip the Roman Catholic church down to its skivvies and show off all of it's secrets. The backstabbing, the intricate high school-like lifestyles in which the clergy live are parodied so deliciously you can't wait to read what he'll come out with next.

This fictional (but to me only the characters were fictional) masterpiece shows what life would be like with the first Irish Pope, Pope Patrick. His biggest ally? His faithful dog.

This is a must-read for anyone who is Catholic (and has a sense of humor)or a lapsed Catholic (who still hordes a little of that bitterness). It's great for anyone else as well as you get to see the inner workings (parodied) of the Catholic church.

When a book makes me laugh out loud as much as this one did, I give it 5 stars! Just too much fun. A fast and lighthearted look at the Vatican in Rome and the men who make it to the top. And yet touching. Great ending.
