I actually really liked this book, despite the writing (the subject kept me reading, not the flow of the words). The basis for the story was very interesting and not one I had come across before (I don't read much sci-fi). Portals would provide a window to the past in real time, and with that the fear of how man will use the Portals system. Would it be used to better mankind or throw mankind into a tailspin?

Viewing history in real time would allow people to see if what we've been taught is what actually happened, with all it's future implications. What if big events, battles, the birth and death of Jesus, etc were not as history states? Portals could allow for the ultimate surveillance of mankind as well. Who caused the accident, follow the kidnappers trail, is he/she stepping out on me, etc. What about a persons history, family tree and such?

The book tells the story of releasing this system for all to use or if it should be only used by the powers that be. Historical, action and sci-fi rolled into one.
