What's with the ever-changing post count numbers? I was up over 100, then down to 73, back up to 77 and now I'm down at 71. Not that it matters, but is this normal? ETA: I've never erased a post - I don't even think you can on this forum, can you? Last Edited on: 8/15/07 1:14 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I noticed this too. My count was about 30 more, the other day. Maybe the periodically archive them? Last Edited on: 8/15/07 1:18 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I think I read this somewhere once before, an the opinion was as older post are removed from the system then your # of posts changes. It is a current post total not an all time post.

Correct Tammy. I dont know why they keep the post count now. It used to be that the posts stayed forever and the count would go up and up and newbies would get all excited about 1000 posts. Now it really doesnt do much. |

I grudgingly understand the "excited" part. I'm in a couple other forums where a high post count is revered and VERY important! lol Unfortunately it also causes a lot of "You don't post very much, so what do you know" type posts. It's nice to see that older posts are dropped here so you can't have instances like that here. |

Did someone ask this somewhere else this morning? I could swear I typed an answer! Must have fell asleep before hitting enter or something. That's what I get for staying up all night. Anyway, topics are dropped off the boards on the 46th day after the last post to it. If you have posted in any topics dropped off today, you count dropped by the # of posts you had in the disappearing topics of today. Like Chris said, we used to throw confetti and do happy dances when we or new people reached the 1000 marks and sometimes even the mid marks. I too don't know why they are there anymore Chris. Except that sometimes it tells us if the person is participating in the forums. |

Ahh. So that's what happened. I thought I was losing my mind remembering posting a whole lot more than my post count stated. Good to know I'm still sane. :D |

Well, Andrea, I don't think it's been proven that this is a fulproof sanity test. You COULD still be crazy, |

Do not be alarmed. The voices in my head have just confirmed that I am indeed quite sane. |

I wish they would just stay, not change when the posts drop off the board, it gives me a feeling of accomplishment to see that number go up but it makes me sad when it drops. |

Soo... does that mean that the people who have thousands of posts made all of those in the last 45 days? That can't be right. Were old accounts grandfathered in or something? It just seems weird to have to start over as a newbie every 45 days. Definitely not the way I'm used to things happening on boards like... anywhere else. Just curious.

That is correct, Andrea, they've posted that many times just in the last 45 days! You don't start over, you simply lose the posts in the topics dropped on each day. The posts will then go up for any you posted on that day. You don't start over every 45 days, sorry, I wasn't clear, you only lose the posts that were posted on the 46th day ago. Just that days posts. Make better sense? ETA: I agree with you Angela, it would not only be a badge of accomplishment, it would certainly help new members find more experienced members in the forums. I mean, it's always nice to be able to see immediatly if the person has been doing something for a while. Last Edited on: 8/15/07 11:58 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
