ok i know this has been asked here sometime in the past but couldn't locate it on the search

I'm posting a book to my bookshelf  and going to place it on my TBR pile

so when i post it. the system grabs it and places a hold on it  so i can't place it on my TBR pile. is there a way to remove that hold ?

looks like its going to generate a request from someone who has the book on their WL .

maybe theres another way to add a book , or am i just going to have to wait until i finsh reading the book before posting it.?

thanks

There is a way to just add it to your TBR pile, not your bookshelf. If you place it on your bookshelf, than it lets whoever want it, have it.  You need to put it on your TBR pile.

Go to your TBR pile.

Use the link at the top called "Add a Book TBR" to post to the TBR. It won't go on your bookshelf.

Once someone requests that book, just decline and say you posted it by mistake. I had that happen to me just a couple of days ago, someone posted a wishlisted book by mistake. The e-mail I got said "sorry, I didn't mean to post this book yet." No big deal, the wisher goes back to #1 in line and your book gets removed from circulation.

After you rate it on your TBR page, the book is added to your "Book I've Read" page automatically and removed from TBR since it has already been read.

If once you are done reading it you want to post it so that someone else can have it, then you would post it to your shelf.

Sounds like you shouldn't have had this on your shelf if it's TBR by you yet.   Only put books on your bookshelf that you are ready to mail out the door. Perhaps a read of The Help Center would answer more questions.

George,

First post your book to your TBR pile.  When you're done reading it don't rate it immediately.  Click on the box that says Post This Book.  That will take the book off your TBR pile and it'll go on your bookshelf to be swapped with someone.  If you want to rate and or review do that when the book is on your bookshelf if you want to swap it.  It's not necessary to to that though.  Some I do and some I don't.  Some are taken before I get a chance to do it.  If I have a book sitting on my bookshelf for a bit and I have the time I'll do some reviews.

ok thanks everyone  :) it's all a learning process    and i have read several things in the help section but the system is vague when it comes to books being on your TBR pile and when you rate it (BIR).   then it slips over to the BIR pile with no way of posting with out just going through the whole process. it would be nice to have an option to post a book and check a box to add it to my TBR pile like when you receive a book.  but i guess the next best thing is like its setup ( a add section on my TBR pile).   Thanks Geri  I will have to remember to do it in that order  so it will be easier to post  :)  thanks

I rate the book on my TBR page and right after I click on post this book. The book only removes from the TBR after you refresh or leave the  the page. So you can add the book to your books I've read page and post it all in one place. Just rate first and then post it. If you click on post this book first it will go to the next screen and the book will be removed from your TBR before you have a chance to rate it.
