Topics advertising your bookshelf should NOT be started in any forum but the Book Bazaar.  from the Help Center

From the Help Center:

We ask that members give thought to the appropriateness of their topic for the forum in which they post. It works best for everyone if questions are posted in Questions About PaperBackSwap, USPS issues are posted in USPS Postal Regulations, games are confined to Games, etc. Topics advertising your bookshelf should NOT be started in any forum but the Book Bazaar. Keeping "deals" and the like confined to the Book Bazaar not only unclutters the other forums, but also allows members who post deals to be sure that their deal is seen, and members who seek deals to find them. We have created enough forums to allow a place for anything our members might like to discuss.

Personally I like the deals posted here....that way I know they have books on their shelf that are of interest to me..and since i come here more then the BB...i will see it faster.

It would make it easier if people would put what they are selling in the title..suchas " 2 for 1 on harlequin blaze books" as opposed to "2 for 1 off all paperbacks"  (this for the books bazaar..i just find that too much is posted in there that  i dont have time to go thru each of them to determine who i want to make a deal with.

As far as it being on this thread..if i am not interested in making a deal..i dont read that thread.

Susan, when people start with the "deals" posts, they're like bunnies and can multiply quicker then you can say HI lol. They can go on for pages!  A couple of weeks ago there were around 17 or so deal posts which  took up the whole first page. We enjoy our board for discussion. If we want a deal we'll go to the Book Bazaar forum and look.

I agree, I wish they would put in the title what kind of books they have on their bookshelf. Most of the time I won't even look at their bookshelf unless I know that they have romances.

Is asking people to look at your bookshelf  considered "posting a deal" if you have books related to the topic? I posted something to that affect the other day. No deal was posted, I simply asked people to look at my bookshelf because I had tons of romances on there (still do). That doesn't seem like "posting a deal" to me. I'm confused.

Starting a thread just to show off your bookshelf would fall under the posting a deal rule to me.  The place to show off your bookshelf is the Book Bazar forum.

There is nothing wrong, though, with putting a deal or a "hey lookit my shelf if you like romances" in your signature and then joining in the discussions on various forums.

I was just in the bazaar forum someone told a few dealers to come here and post their romances so that might be why there were deals posted here. just letting everyone know :-)

I personally assume that someone posting in the Love & Romance section will most likely have those kind of books on their shelves.  I usually check out everyone's shelf and WL just to see.  You can always PM a person and ask if they are willing to make a deal if they have more than one book.  I've had people ask me if I'll do 2 for 1 or something.  Also I noticed if you put some "free w/order" or "2 for 1" in your siggy you'll get more interest.

Most all of us have a signature line.  Use this for any deals you are interested in making.  I know I personally NEVER contact someone who posts inappropriately - especially when its been talked to death about not doing it!
