I probably might have liked this book better had I not had EVERYBODY telling me "This is an awesome book! You should read it! You would love it!" It's okay. I didn't finish the book and think "Well, I just wasted four hours." But it was pretty forgettable in the long run. Very over-hyped.

It's very much a journal comic. These are just pages taken right out of Schrag's comic-book diary. So with these kinds of stories, written day by day as things happen, the storytelling is unconventional (which is not to say it's bad, just different).

The art is mostly simple, but occasionally becomes incredibly detailed and realistic for a few pages before going back to the really cartooney stuff. I know it's a journal comic, but I just couldn't get into the art.

Perhaps it is just because her life was *similar* to mine, but she made different choices, which made me frustrated while I read it, because I identified with Schrag enough to feel like part of me was in this comic, but making choices I would never make. So this could just be my own personal experience with the book.
