Interesting story of several generations of the Irwin family, early settlers in Wyoming.

I've loved all of Waldo's books ... until I got to this one. Waldo's books are well-researched, and this is no exception, but the writing is not as strong -- there's too much fluff and not enough filling. There is a lot of day-by-day information about the characters' lives, ("We got up, we had breakfast, we watered the horses...") which is fascinating to a point, but eventually it made me frustrated, wishing she'd get on with a story, any story. At 1,100+ pages, she should have cut out a lot of the extraneous chatter and stuck to the "meat and potatoes". Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this title.
