"Praying for your Future Husband" by Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer- Book Review

This non-fiction book is targeted toward young women prior to marriage. Authors Gunn and Goyer share their very personal stories prior to their marriages. Each chapter is rich with scriptures, letters and stories from readers, and experiences. And each chapter ends with discussion questions suitable for personal or group study.

This is not a "how to get a Christian husband" book, but rather a book about learning to lean and rely on God for everything including contentment in singleness or marriage. The book is well organized and easy to read. It is the type of thing that should be read over a period of time rather than in one sitting, as there is so much rich information and ideas to ponder.

Both authors share from their experiences of their single days prior to marriage and the areas of common interest to all young women. They also share their incredible joy of being the mother at the wedding and watching their children commit to their God chosen spouse.

This book would be wonderful for a teen age girl Bible Study or Sunday School class. Also good for individual study. Would make a great gift. While it is written from a female perspective, it would be good for guys too, if they are mature enough to look beyond the very female point of view.

Have you ever thought about praying for your future husband?
Will it make a difference?
Theres only one way to find out

From when we were small girls, most of us dream of The One, our future husband. We think about what it would be like to be a bride. We wonder who that special guy is and when well find him. The great news is that what you do now can make a difference in your life and the life of your future husband!

Authors and good friends Robin Jones Gunn (Christy Miller series) and Tricia Goyer (author and former teen mom) believe God answers womens prayers for husbandseven husbands they may not meet for years. They invite young women to pray boldly for their future mate while also asking God to prepare their own hearts.

In Praying for Your Future Husband, Robin and Tricia share their two vastly different experiences, including the things they did right and the mistakes they made on the path to meeting and marrying their husbands. Each chapter includes helpful Bible verses, prayers, and practical application, along with true stories of women who prayed for a husband and how God answered in remarkable ways.

God has a beautiful romance prepared for you. Prayer is the key to unlocking the love story with your future husband and with God, the lover of your soul.

My Review:
Wow does not even begin to describe this book. It is a well-writing, well thought out and encouraging book geared specifically to young unmarried women. Robin and Tricia share their life stories including their joys and struggles. I cried with them. It brought such emotion. I wish that I had had this book when I was a young wanna-be married young woman. While I did pray for my husband, I never had the direction that this book provides.
Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of prayer, including praying for his heart, trust, intimacy and the list. As a mother with a young daughter, this book has opened my eyes and will help me in praying more specifically for her future husband. When she is old enough to read (she is only 3 at present) I hope that she will pick up this book and cherish it.
Another plus in this book is the discussion questions. They dig deep and at the very least make you think about things that you may have never considered before. It also has short prayers for you and your future mate.
This book is a must read for every single woman, regardless of age. Moms, you might want to look this one up too.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. Many thanks.
