I liked this book so much that I requested it as a bookclub selection. I read another book by Ms.Carey and it was wonderful. This book makes yo think what would you do if you could have your freedom from slavery.....is it worth the price of your infant child?
I enjoyed this book. It was serious, but there was humour in it as well. The ending made me wonder if there will be a sequel...?
In 1855 Cinnie Pryor, once cook, mistress, and slave to aVirginia Planter, Walks away from her furious master and into the embrace of a delegation of Philadelphia's Vigilance Committee.
A deeply engrossing story of slavery and the costs and sacrifices to be free.
