t was a surprisingly fast read that kept me intrigued and curious with each turn of the page. The story is typical of romance novels where a jealous lover will do whatever it takes to keep their claim but because it's set in 19th Century England, the glam is heightened and the love of the two men that much more taboo. The author weaves history with fictional prose in such an exquisite way that you swear you're watching a movie rather than reading a smutty romance novel.

While the smut again is confined to a single event, the build-up is nicely done. In this one, Joseph is the much older paramour that at first sees nothing in the mousy Jamie that could be considered attractive in any way. But, as time progresses and through the meddling of the Earl's staff, Jamie's sensual lips, eyes and even the mousy hair get the earl's attention nicely.

The story builds up nicely and the characters are well-developed but you want more. You want to see more of Jamie and Stephen's time together and the last scenes of the book, with their climactic build, leave you wandering why they ended so fast.
