I must have enjoyed this book, as I read it in two days. (I normally read a chapter here and there since I have small children). I liked it for what it was and not for what people seem to make it. It is not a mystery; and although it touches on subjects also mentioned in Holy Blood, Holy Grail; it is not in the same category. This book was filled with characters that struggled with their spirituality and also their lack of it. The intertwining of government issues, religious traditions, and forbidden passions are continually present throughout the book, along with enough information on various holy wars that make you want to read more on the subject...and that is what a good book is really designed to do after all.
