This is a complicated book, both in plot and in the way it's written. Reading this book is like eating a piece of really expensive chocolate. The characters, the setting (Renaissance Italy) and the language are all meant to be savored not devoured. You will remember Veronica and Antonio long after you've turned the last page. The absoloutely beautiful step-back cover is a bonus.
