From backcover:

The young Princess Irene is in danger. The goblins are plotting to kidnap her, bring her down under the earth, and make her the goblin prince's wife! Only the miner boy Curdie and Irene's mysterious and magical grandmother can help her. But the King's Royal Guards have Curdie locked away in a room and nobody can see her grandmother except Irene. Will Irene be a goblin bride or will clever Curdie somehow save the day?
