Beautiful love story without any suggestive content.

I have never read a story about such an actively religious society. There've been religious characters in books, but they're usually side characters who are regarded as a bit queer. It was really unique and refreshing to read about characters so deep in their faith that they pray at any time, about virtually anything - that's amazing to me, as a Christian who has serious problems with remembering and taking the time to pray.

The book itself isn't anything special; it might entertain some young adults but it is overall too simple for me - although it is certainly well-meaning!

I usually don't read a lot of Christian fiction. But, I had heard good things about this book. I was not disappointed. When Prince Nikali's first wife dies, he ends up in an arranged marriage to Shelby. This book tells how, with help from God, they fall in love. This was a sweet modern day fairy tale.

Absolutely loved this book! Even though it is unrealistic...a modern day fairy tale, don't we all love those? It's sweet and romantic. I keep it on my shelf and read it ever so often.

Lori Wick has been my favorite Christian author since I discovered her at age 17. She still is, 16 years later. The Princess is probably my favorite modern christian romance novel, too. I am very selective in the books I keep, reread, and share and this is at the top of my list.

The Princess is a wonderful love story to loose yourself in. Love grows in an arranged marriage. I found the Christian theme to be a bit preachy but these sections were short and to the point, easy to skim over.

My Mother liked this Lori Wick book too. She said once she started reading it, she couldn't put it down. Easy read. "She's so special already, Lord, Daria Parker prayed. Now she has You, and I can't help but wonder if You might something very remarkable and unfamiliar for our Shelby."

I just finished reading "The Princess" by Lori Wick and liked it very much. This is the first christian themed romance novel that I have read, but I will be looking for more. With so many "romance" books having explicit scenes it was nice to have a book that practiced restraint. It was very romantic in that the intamate scenes practiced "fade to black" and left it up to your mind to fill in the rest. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that is looking for an alternative to the regular fare that being offered right now.

If you've ever read and enjoyed Lori Wick, then this newer title is sure to please. From the back cover..."In the land of Pendaran, ively, affectionate Shelby Parker was born to a simple life--yet her mother, Daria and those around her cannot help but notice the graces she possesses. Among those taking note of Shelby's winsome ways and tender heart are the king and queen of the House of Markham, who are seeking a new wife for their widowed son, Prince Nikolai. To uphold a long-cherished tradition of the country, Shelby and Nikolai agree to an arranged marriage. But while Nikolai is a perfect genleman at public functions, he remains distant and shy at home, leaving Shelby to ponder the inner workings of his heart. Will the Prince ever love her as he did his first wife? Can the faith they share overcome the barriers between them?"

What a great story. Of course it is every girls' fairy-tale to become Cinderella and marry the Prince, but what if the prince doesn't turn out to be quite as charming as you expected? Would you still trust in God to help you to be committed to a man that doesn't love you, when you are not even sure you can love him either?

This is the most beautiful and heartfelt love story of commitment, faith, humbleness and true love that I have ever read. It has its fairy-tale aspects, but the treasures that are gained from reading it are so real.

You learn how to love and show kindness even under difficult circumstances. I recommend this book to all lovers of Christian fiction.

Lori Wick is one of my favorite authors and this is one of my favorite books. It is an inspirational fiction book but it never seemed 'preachy' to me. I thought the story and characters were well developed and the Christian element was weaved in perfectly. I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for a good read.

I'm not sure what genre this book falls under, but I would put it under young adult Christian fiction. It's a rather simplified tale, which is both good and bad; it's admirable that the author tried to simplify such complicated ideas, but at times, it just doesn't succeed. This would be a great book for a young person who likes fairy tales!

From the backcover:
In the Land of Pendaran, lively, affectionate Shelby Parker was born to a simple life - yet her mother, Daria, and those around her cannot help but notice the graces she possesses. Among those taking note of Shelby's winsome ways and tender heart are the king and queen of the House of Markham, who are seeking a new wife for their widowed som, Prince Nikolai.
To uphold a long-cherished tradition of the country, Shelby and Nikolai agree to an arranged marriage. But while Nikolai is a perfect gentleman at public functions, he remains distant and shy at home, leaving Shelby to ponder the inner workings of his heart. Will the prince ever love her as he did his first wife? Can the faith that they share overcome the barriers between them?

I did enjoy this book. Even though the book is a kind of fantasy-land name and all, the author makes it very real. Reminds me of The Princess Diary, although it isn't like it. But kind of.

This is a really good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lori Wick is a very talented author and I would suggest this book to anyone!
One thing that I would like to mention is that the back cover has a couple of things backwards. Shelby is the one who is polite in public, but distant and shy at home. Nikolai is the one trying to figure her out.
That is all! Enjoy!
