This is a wonderful book, full of interesting facts and episodes and well-researched. I kept it in my car for months, reading it in fits and starts whenever I had to wait for my husband at meetings, which was often. It never disappointed me. However, due to the nature of the princesses' lives and more especially, the intermittent madness of their father, the book becomes more and more depressing towards the end.

The icing on the cake is the surprising number of good photographs of paintings done of the royal family and some of the princesses' lovers/husbands.
