How much does it cost in PBS money to send a regular $2.13 book with the printable postage?  I'm trying to figure out how much PBS money to put in so I don't have extra money I can;t use stuck there in PBS limbo forever.  Thanks!

Ann

Don't they charge you like .50 to transfer $?  I put like $25 or $30 at a time but I send out a lot of books. It's going to be around $2.75.

From my transaction archives, the pritable postage surcharge is $.43. The problem you get into if you try to forecast an exact amount is when you have books that are light enough to fall into the first class territory or when you have a book that's over 1 pound. I find it's easiest to just keep around $5-$10 in my account. You can usually mail 2-3 packages with it, and it's really not a lot of money to "float", if you know what I mean.

ETA: And yes, there is a $.50 surcharge to purchase the PBS money. So determine your "comfort zone" depending upon the number of transactions you usually have and decide what's best for you.

Oh, that figures...  I put in $5, and I'll only be able to mail one book.

So why do  you just want to have enough and no extra in your PBS account?  It is so easy to send with the PBS postage.

Because I don't always have Paypal money to put in my account, and I'd  hate to have $2.33 or so just sitting there.  Not enough to send a book or buy a credit.  Usually my postage is paid with cash at the PO.

I printed a label without weighing it in the bubble wrap 1st. I am short 0.17--is it OK to add a stamp on the PBS printed label?

I understand that you can reprint the label--but NOT go back and change the amount.

As I understand it, you can just add the $.17 to the package. It still has the traceable postage via the PBS postage, so it should be OK.

You can add a stamp. I forgot that I was sending another book in a package when I paid for the postage.  I weighed the 2 books in the package and added the difference in stamps.  It got to it's new owner w/no problems.
