Is anyone else having trouble with priority mail taking longer than the usual 3 days? I mailed two priority flat rate boxes from my post office in upstate NY on 11/1, one to KY and one to CA. Today I see they have JUST been scanned into the Rochester NY distribution center - which isn't even 100 miles away from my home! I honestly was expecting the one to KY to arrive today and the one to CA on Monday. I have received 3 packages from the west coast this week, two from UT and one from OR, that had 48 hour turn-around, so I really wonder why the ones I am sending are taking so much longer.

Bren, I've also noticed that shipping takes a bit longer when I use the Priority Flat Rate boxes. My personal feeling is that they shouldn't be handled any differently than any other priority box. The next time I mail one of these out, I'll ask my postmaster some questions. (They are all very friendly & helpful - I'm so lucky).

Well I seem to remember the PO putting out a notice of delays because of the fires in CA.

Well, there are some delays here in CA.  But it should only affect the packages coming and going to the zipcodes where the fire was.  At least that's the way it was explained on the news here.

The USPS web page states Priority mail is not a guarentee, but an estimate. 95% of packages get there in 3 days. Natural disasters (hurricanes, power outages, fires, floods, etc.) can delay shipping also.
