My interest in this book was from the Dennis Wheatley Library of the Occult titles. This is a detective mystery with an occult theme. I thought the story was great, but it doesn't unfold until the very last few chapters. The bulk of the book drags on very slowly and the book's dialogue is old (1928) and can be hard to follow. I would recommend it if you like detective stories, but it might not be for everyone.
