from the back cover- The damaged product of a tragic adolescence, Connie Krauser Chaney wanted to believe her husband Wayne could be gentle and kind, that he could offer her the security her parents hadn't. But the sweet and caring father of their beautiful son Max took great pleasur in leaving her battered and bloody. Connie Knew she had to get away and rescue max from his father's corrupting influence.
But there was no eluding Wayne Chaney. And despite Connie's carefully planned escape routes-and frantic but fruitless pleas to the courts and police- Wayne did whar his frightened young wife always said he would. He stalked her, raped her, terrorized her, cornered her. And, finally, he killed her.
