In this book, the author introduces you to your internal guardians - probiotics - the friendly bacteria that live and work in your gastrointestinal tract, and they constitue your first line of defense against illness and disease. They can help lower your cholesterol, protect you against food poisoning and alleviate conditions such as candidiasis, Crohn's disease and lactose intolerance as well as boost your immune function and can also help cancel out the effexcts of unavoidable environmental pollutants. She also explains how a number of factors - including over the counter and prescriptions drugs, alcohol, food additives, stress and poor dietary choices have a negative impact on these friendly bacteria. When your friendly bacteria are weak, harmful bacteria and other microoganism are able to proliferate and create havoc with your health.
