Okay, if you've read Freud deeper than the Interpretation of Dreams and you know who Winnicott and Melanie Klein and Fritz Wittels are, you will love this book. I bought it on a whim, thinking I would expand my horizons...but I'm a CBT therapist. It's well-written and often witty, but you need to be versed in the history of psychoanalysis to appreciate it fully. I finally decided it was something I was never going to read twice. Someone else will appreciate it more than I did. I still have to give it 5 stars for the excellent writing, it's just the other side of the world for me!
