I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU SOMEONE ELSE is the perfectly light yet fulfilling read for the reader who's in between the teenage and adult years. It is endearingly thoughtful, with memorable characters and a modern humorous sensibility.

Erin McCahan's writing is bright and witty, reminiscent of a more succinct version of Meg Cabots. Bronwen wastes no words with her narration, instead providing us just enough to get the picture, get her tone, and focus more on the story and characters. Bronwen's intelligence, irreverence, and simultaneous disenchantment and idealism about family and love made her a unique YA character that I didn't want to look away from.

The strength of I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU SOMEONE ELSE lies in its characters. Debut author Erin McCahan uses the simplest of dialogue to create differentiated and well-rounded characters without the dose of melodrama that YA contemporary fiction sometimes has. This means that, no matter how far-fetched the plot might get (Bronwen IS muleheadedly determined that she is not related to her family, after all), we are still charmed and want more of Bronwen, Jared, Jared's family, Bronwen's family, and all others.

I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU SOMEONE ELSE is a delightful contemporary read with a surprisingly strong amount of depth and feeling to it. I know for sure that this is one book I'll be returning to when I'm in the mood for a not-so-ordinary tale of romance and growing up!

I cannot begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. I breezed through it in no time, and enjoyed every single page of it. This is a great tale of young love, coming-of-age, and discovering who you truly are. Erin McCahan managed to write a teen story that was thoughtful, meaningful, and full of fun, all at the same time.

Browen is such a unique and fun character. She never really fit in with her family and would picture a fantastical family coming to claim her as her own. She even gave herself a fake name. When she meets Jared, they begin a whirlwind romance that was so sweet. Jared is a great male lead! So sweet, smart, and romantic. Any young girl would have fallen for him (I know I did!).

I really felt connected to this book and the characters involved. Browen reminded me so much of myself when I was her age. I was engaged my senior year, with a wedding planned the same month as hers. All of her fears and doubts were ones that I had as well. I didn't have the family problems she had, but her love life was like a blast from the past.

Overall this was a fantastic book that kept me engaged and excited to find out what would happen. The romance made my heart flutter and I completely fell in love with the characters. I can't wait to read more by Erin McCain and I recommend this book very highly

At first I wasn't sure I'd like this book (ok, ok, call me judgmental -- but hey, this girl is still in high school and already engaged to an older guy?), however I ended up enjoying this book more the further I read.

Bronwen's spunk and sarcastic comments are fresh. She tells Jared about her pains of the past in order to get the secret of filling out the college Roommate Questionnaire.

This is not a typical syrupy-sweet love story, but one with explanations on who Bronwen really is and what she longs to be.
