The Proteus Pact by Geoffrey St. George (pseudonym), 1975. I bought the book 30 later and it still fascinates me. Anyone remember the book, know about the author, did he/she wrote more novels?

Doing a quick Google, that book is the only one I can find by him. If it's a pseudonym, I don't see it anywhere--but admittedly I only searched for about 2 minutes. :)
