Flooding in North Carolina has closed roads and created the perfect opportunity for Adam Duval and Lyle McEdwin to escape from a prison work crew. When they go to pick up a car that Lyle's fugitive family has hidden for them, Lyle is shot after he recklessly shoots an off-duty cop. Adam finds an urgent-care clinic where everyone except Dr. Renata Curtis has left for the night. After she treats the seriously wounded Lyle, the fugitives kidnap Renata and head cross-country. Gorgeous Adam, really an undercover FBI agent, is on a mission to find and stop the elusive domestic terrorist McEdwin clan, which has been importing vast quantities of high explosives. As he tries to keep his bad-guy persona going and protect Renata at the same time, Adam begins to question the motives of the politician who is running the operation.

Two criminals make good a prison escape but one is injured in a shoot out with an off-duty cop. They kidnap Dr. Renata Curtis from her clinic. The trio eludes police until they can get to the family compound and hide out from the cops. Once they arrive, the McEdwin family wants to kill the doctor because she can identify them and their top secret location. Can undercover FBI agent Adam, who planned the prison escape to gain the trust of his cellmate, save her and capture the natorious McEdwin gang with out getting both of them killed? Pretty good read. The hero and heroine don't seem like a perfect fit, but if you like domestic terrorists mixed with a little romance, this is the book for you.
