I need to discuss with the author's 4th grade teacher the underlying reasons why he has a phobia of ending a sentence. The opening sentence is 288 words long, and a perusal further into the book shows it doesn't get much better.

If you are a follower of Sir Harry Flashman- be warned. This is nothing like the Flashman novels. The Pyrates is GM Fraser having a bit of reckless fun. It is wildly historically inaccurate, the characters are all cartoonish stereotypes and the plot is utterly ridiculous- on purpose!
If you get this book expecting anything like a Flashman story, you will be disappointed. Imagine a novel-length Monty Python skit instead. Having said that, I must say that I enjoyed it in the light-hearted spirit in which it was intentioned.
