This book involves Q, multiple Trelane's, and the Enterprise and crew from three parallel universes.

It is an interesting idea, but it was hard to keep up with which universe I was reading about. And that was before the three universes started âleakingâ into each other.

Despite that I enjoyed reading it.

Peter David is one of my favorite authors of all time and this is easily my favorite Star Trek novel. This should have been adapted as a Next Generation movie instead of Insurrection or Nemesis.

This book contains a parallel universe/time travel story, so be prepared for a little confusion, but the characterizations of all the characters are spot on. This is a fun, action-oriented but dark tale.

Synopsis: Q shows up on Picard's bridge with Trelane, a being we last saw in the Squire of Gothos episode of the original series. Trelane is a "family friend" of Q and he is supposed to be mentoring the young Trelane. Q, of course, can't stand the young being and foists him on Picard and the crew. Trelane gets into all sorts of trouble involving the Star Trek multi-verse and alternate timelines. It's a fascinating read and stands up as one of the best Star Trek novels I've ever read.

This was a great book, kept me interested throughout. It got a little confusing when it would switch among parallel universes, but it was meant to be confusing. If you love Next Gen, read this book. If you love stories with Q, read this book. Well worth it.
