If I put just one or two books from my shelf on hold, do those books lose their place in FIFO & go back to the back of the line when they're re-posted?  Also when I re-post them will it show the original date I posted it or the date that it was taken off vacation hold?

Vacation hold is for your whole shelf, not individual books. So if your whole shelf is on vacation hold, I'm pretty sure your books hold their place in line (unless you're passed by, but then you get to come back in 'first place').  Individual book holds are for when you haven't finished reading a book, or you're short on postage that month & think a book is going to be requested quickly, etc...I couldn't find a direct answer in help.

You keep your place in FIFO when your whole shelf goes on hold. You lose your place in FIFO if you just hold individual books.

Thank you Mary, that answers my first question. Now when that book is taken off hold, does anyone know if the date it was posted is that date that shows or the date that's it's taken off hold?

I ask because I got a great deal on some books in the BB forum Saturday & they were mailed today. Well this morning I was looking through my RL & saw a different version of one of my WL books was avaliable. I have the PB edition on my WL & saw that the HC version (which is on my RL) had one copy avaliable. So I ordered it & when I went to look at the members other books I saw it was from the person whom I got the great deal from. So I looked at the date the book was posted & saw it was posted on 4-23-09. I'm just trying to figure out if I overlooked it when I was ordering for the deal I got or if the member maybe had it on hold. Just curious I guess.

If you have a book on individual hold and then put it back in FIFO it will show the date that you put it back, not the day you put it on hold as the new FIFO date.  Hope that makes sense.  Pat

I have a vacation Hold question. When we are on Vacation Hold, are we still offered books on our WL? If not, is there a way to put out-going books on hold, maintain our FIFO place and still receive WL books?

EveDallas, you retain your FIFO place when you go on Vacation Hold.  Incoming requests will be halted until you return from Vacation Hold.  But you can still receive books from your WL if you have them set to Auto Request -Yes.  They will be ordered for you while you are on Vacation Hold, unless you run out of credits.  Then the book would be offered to you on a 48-hour hold, where you would need to get credits and accept the request within the 48 hour time period, or refuse the request and lose your place in the WL line.  If you do nothing, the WL hold will time out, and again, you'd lose your place in the WL line.   But if you have enough credits in your account to cover WL'd books that become available while you are on Vacation Hold, they will be requested for you without problems.
