hi :) i was thinking that quickcredit sounded like a great idea, get your credit as soon as USPS scans the book instead of having to wait 'til it gets to it's final destination, right? so, ok, i used the DC confirmation (that is what it's called, isn't it? color me ditzy if not), i can see my 2 books scanned in the transaction details thing, the cool little truck shows up on it's way on the cute little map, but... (you guessed it) no credits.. is this normal? i'm still trying to get a feel for how things work, so that's why the questions ...russa |

Russa, depending on where you live not all post offices have the specific scanner needed to do the delivery confirmation. I live in rural Maine and my quick credits would take at least 3 days to come through. Sometimes you don't get the credit until it is actually scanned at the point of delivery. Since the postal rates increased, if your book weighs less than 6 ounces, it will be cheaper to send it First Class, your requestor will get the book in 2-3 days and you may just get your credit quicker that way. I think the quick credit worked really well when the Media Mail rate was so inexpensive everyone was using it, but they really hiked the Media Mail Rates this time. For all those reasons, I've stopped using the quck credit at all now. But don't give up yet, give it a few days and see how it will work for you. |

Even if we didn't get quick credit, I'd use pbs dc. You don't have to worry about the requester marking the books received and if the books do get lost in the mail, you are guarenteed your credit. I use the custom dc for cd swap and my personal shipments. It gives a little extra income to pbs. Generating income for pbs could keep this site free. |

Russa -- are you sure PBS has the actual scan records? Remember "Electronic shipping info received" is not a scan record. It's the first one after that which gives you a credit. |

thanks for all the responses :) @joy... for whatever reason, no matter how busy, they have no problem scanning.. which is nice for me @marie... i didn't even think of the fact that using the pbs dc is like a thank you back to pbs.. thank you for reminding me :D @cathy.. you had it pegged :D as soon as i saw the barcode scanned i knew i should have just kept my mouth (fingers?) shut.. heh @leslie.. i'm through trying to time the packages.. even in just 2 weeks i've seen that there is absolutely no rhyme or reason :p i figure my job is to drop it off and just figure it's gonna get there in it's own sweet time.. heh

Theres more than one reason to use PBS DC. My local PO doesnt have a scanner so I never count on the package actually getting scanned. They dont have to scan it until its delivered. On that note I do use the DC because it gauntees me my credit even if the book goes lost or an account is inactive and the book is never marked recieved. It also helps PBS. So there are three major reasons to use it. 1. Getting the credit faster 2. Garunteeing the credit 3. Helping the site. |
