I really enjoy how Loretta Chase tells a story. In this one, the secret is quite a secret, and kept me curious as to how it could possibly be resolved into a happily ever after ending. She managed, but it was a bit far fetched. But hey, this is fiction - maybe society really would be more accepting than I think.
I highly recommend for a lazy weekend getaway. :-)

Wonderful story by Loretta Chase. Darius Carsington, youngest son of the Earl of Hargate, is a handsome rake who also happens to be a scholar. Lady Charlotte Hayward, a beautiful twenty-seven year-old spinster, has a dark, dark secret in her past and doesn't want to ever get married. But when they first meet each other, there is an attraction that neither can deny.

H/H a little unusual- he's a scholarly rake with no heart, she's a beauty skilled at not getting married. Characters are engaging and have some depth.

I always enjoy Chase's books, but this one was not my favorite. The pacing seemed a little slower, and the hero's transformation was a little pat. This is not a bad book, but it is my least favorite Chase book.

This love story is not the run of the mill. She isn't the sweet little innocent virgin and there are some heart wrenching twists and turns. Fabulous love scenes and wonderful characters. Excellent book!
Enjoyed just as much as all her other books

I like Loretta Chase because her characters are believable and well defined. Very enjoyable.
- The narrative I thought was a bit misleading on this but I enjoyed the book!
- One of the better ones I've read from this author. =)
