Noted British thriller writer with an interesting story. All traces of self esteem have been stripped from Malachy Kitchen, an intelligence officer posted to Iraq. He is accused of cowardice while on patrol with an infantry platoon ambushed by insurgents. Word spread that he ran under hostile fire. Kicked out of the army, Malachy sinks into despair. He becomes an isolated recluse on a drug-infested London estate. But the mugging of an elderly widow by addicts lights a flame that draws him to fight to regain his lost pride. His target is the network of narcotics traders.
This is a story of a broken man trying to get his life back. There are numerous plot twists and surprises. All in all a pretty good story. This is the only book by Seymour I have read, but I would be inclined to try another.

Gerald Seymour is always a good read. His characters are well-developed, his plots are timely and believeable. I pick up all his books and finish them most of the time.
