I was really looking forward to the next EDGE novel because this hardcore mercenary group is so great. I was hoping for more info on the mysterious hidden labs. But what we got was an airhead Razor aka Roxanne who is a member of this group and Tanner, a former special ops who is being considered for membership. He is assigned to watch her back since someone is stalking her and she doesn't think she needs a babysitter and tries to ditch him. Hello, someone is trying to kill you, girl! It goes from bad to worse as Tanner is great( I fell a bit in love with him) and Roxanne is annoying. She can't see the forest for the trees. How did she ever get admitted to this group?
The disjointed chapters in the beginning of the book were so distracting I almost put the book down. It took way too long to bring all the pieces together to make sense of what was going on. And the ending didn't clear up anything and we were left with a cliffhanger and must wait for the next book and hope for more info.

A huge disappointment. I couldn't get into it because Razor was obviously such a spoiled idiot that I have no idea how she survived as long as she did in her employment. I read two chapters and it was painful. When the girl has a gun, she chooses to do hand-to-hand combat. When her job is on the line and all she has to do was take on a partner, she keeps trying to ditch him. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Couldn't finish the book.

Butcher's other books are much better. If you didn't like this one, don't give up on her.

The spooky clandestine group takes up most of the story. This group is really frightening. There is lots of action and new characters are introduced. Not quite as good as the first, but it held my attention.
