Sooooo good! I mean... from start to finish I could not put this book down. Someone suggested that it was a 5 star read and I figured I should try it -- I needed a new book anyways. But, honestly, I LOVED it!! A must read!!

It seems like I say this every time I write a review, but I really did not expect what happened in this story to happen. This romance novel is about a fighter who is instantly attracted to a spectator and the spectator just so happens to be a recent graduate of sports medicine, so he hires her to help him after fights and workouts to keep him in shape. Typical, right? This follows the general story pattern. The two attractive male and female characters will be attracted to each other, admit it to each other and fall in love over a short period of time. Yeah. It happens in all of the romances I've read, so you expect it. What you don't expect is for one of them to be seriously bipolar. Like, for real.
Remingtion Tate is an Underground boxer with a reputation for winning. He does not lose fights. He's charming and charismatic inside and outside of the ring. And then he meets Brooke Dumas and all of that changes.

I know, his name is Remington. Total Romance name. I thought the same thing but it grows on you.

Remington or Remy is a charmer in the ring and a ticking time bomb outside of it. The reason he trains so hard and fights so well is because he trying to stay grounded. Remy is unmedicated bipolar. Apparently anything can change his mood and when he "goes black" he is indestructible. Considering his size and strength, it would take a lot to stop him once his mood changes.

I don't know a lot about bipolarism myself. I know there are moods of extreme highs and of extreme lows, which Remy does exhibit. The midpoint between those moods though the depression and the rage I had no idea about. I suppose it makes sense because those are moods as well and being bipolar doesn't mean you only exhibit two extreme moods but a multitude of all moods in a short amount of time.

I liked this story more than I thought I would. I figured it would be a typical alpha-male meets demur, quiet hermit lady and turns her out. While this isn't all false, it definitely is all true either.

There will be five books total in this series. Hopefully the rest of the books will be as interesting as the first.

4.5 stars. Remy joins the emotionally damaged bad boy category that includes Travis Maddox, Jake Wethers, and Clayton Reed. Remy is trouble for a million different reasons. Any girl in her right mind should avoid him but Brooke can't seem to help herself. Their first meeting was very intense and their attraction grew instantly. The sexual tension between them was a slow torturous build that resulted in fireworks. Worth the wait! Although Remy is physically strong but he needs Brooke to help him cope mentally to his life. Loving Remy can be a challenge and Brooke struggles to be strong enough to handle it all along with her own personal battles. I loved Remy and his way of expressing himself to Brooke through his iPod playlist. He was sweet, sexy, and exhausting! Brooke was a little annoying at times but overall it was a good story! No cliff but I can't wait for the sequel. Need more Remy!

Real, by Katy Evans, is the story about a young woman who falls in love with a bad-boy boxer who is promiscuous, dark and dangerous. It's love at first sight, of course. I have to admit that during the first few pages of this book I thought for sure I wouldn't like it--it seemed to cliche, too much like I'd read it before. I thought it might end up a poor version of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. However, I stuck to it, mostly because of all the good reviews this book was given, and in the end I'm glad I did. Overall it was well written, with likable characters and enough drama and intimate love scenes to keep me interested. My copy included the extended ending, which I enjoyed (better than the original ending). I admit I was left feeling happy and experiencing some tears, which for me is a sign of a good book. There were a few things I didn't like--I thought it got a bit wordy from time to time--too much description about every little thing and not enough actual story. **Spoil Alert** I didn't like the male character's black-eyed HULK moments, which not only included monster-sized temper tantrums but memory loss, which I thought was over the top. Yes, he suffered from bipolar disorder, and perhaps there are extreme cases really like this, but as someone who knows a great deal about the disorder, I thought his episodes were a little far fetched. All of what I liked about the book still greatly outweighed what I didn't, however, and it's a book I'd recommend. Easy read, enjoyable, nice surprise twist ending. 4 out of 5 stars.
