The original text is in Japanese as written by a Japanese author. This novel is a translation of the original. The story is about 2 people and their interaction as in what they think and what they say. I'm not used to a murder mystery that starts out with the killer's thoughts and the way that person progresses in action. I am used to "a body is found.....". I guess the difference here is one of Japanese culture and the way people react to events. I didn't particularly like the story, but I read it anyway. I would say that if you are interested in something quite different then American/European murder mysteries, then you might like this one. Evidently, the author is famous in Japan for her writing.
