On August 30th I the book on my wish list called The Mediator vol.3 became available and I requested it.

Earlier this morning, I got an e-mail from PBS saying that this book could not be sent and my account had been credited back a point and I would be put back in the wish list line.
Then this afternoon I received this book in the mail (it was post marked on Sep 1st).  I tried looking up the person that sent it by first name and then by city and state in the Member Directory, but could not find her.

What should I do?  I feel bad that this person sent me the book and isn't going to get a credit for it.

Go to Transactions Archive, chose "requested by me" and "canceled by sender", then resort.  It should appear with a red X. You can click on it and mark it received.

From the Help Center:

This usually happens when the member that sent this book did not complete the sending process by marking the book mailed, but sent the book anyway.  In these situations, there is a possibility that the requestor will end up with 2 copies of the book.

If you received (or will receive) two copies of the book, you are not obligated to give a credit to the sender whose transaction was canceled.  If you got (and will get) only one copy, you should mark the book received so that the sender gets credit.

To mark this book received and give a credit to the sender:

  • Go to your Transaction Archive:
    • Place your cursor over My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site and click Transaction Archive in the menu that drops down
    • You can also get there by clicking the link "Transaction Archive" at the top of the My Account page
  • Scroll down to find the canceled transaction for this book
    • Be sure it is the correct transaction: sometimes there are several canceled transactions for one title
    • Check the sender name against the return address on the package
    • To find the request easily, sort the transaction archive by "Requested by Me" - "All" - "title" - "descending" and scroll down to find the transaction(s) for this title.
      • Again, there may be multiple transactions for one title: be sure to choose the correct one!
      • You can compare the name of the sender on the transaction with the return address on the package
      • You can also click the link Request Details on the right of the transaction to see more information about the transaction (the dates it was requested, printed, mailed)
  • Click on the transaction
  • The usual Book Received screens will come up.
    • You will have a chance to send a message to the book-sender during this process.

You also might want to check your Wish List, and remove this title from there, if you do not want to receive future offers of this book.

  • The book would have been placed on your Wish List automatically when the transaction canceled, if there were no other copies of the book in the system.

Thanks, both of you.  But I'm still a bit confused XD

"Click on the transaction", which part should I click?  When I click the red x, nothing happens.  When I click the book title, it just takes me to that book's page.  When I click request details, the only thing I can really do is send them a message.
What do I click then? x.x Sorry, I know I sound really stupid, but I don't know what to do.

MMMMM, I've never had to do it, I can only tell you what the help center said.  Sorry, was trying to be helpfull......Maybe you'd need to add her to your buddy list, and send her the credit that way...  Anyone ?

I've never had to do this either, but I just looked at my transaction archive and found one that had been cancelled. Over to the right side there was a gray box marked "has book been received?" When I cliked on that, it took me to another screen that looked very similar to when you would normally receive a book where you would mark it received or received with a problem.

Not sure if that helps or not....

Hmmm.. there's no grey box or anything like that for me. =(

I think I'll just do what Karen said and add her to my buddies and credit her that way.

Thanks for all the help!!

If the book was cancelled there is not an option to mark that you received it off the transaction. If a book is lost in the mail, you have the option on the right to note that a book was received later on.
