I had a hard time getting started with this book, but after about 1/3 of the way, I had a hard time putting it down. I knew someone in the book was up to no good, but I was completely surprised by the ending!

A nice mystery and romance. Set around 1895 in England and Egypt.

I really enjoyed this adventure/romance. From London's social whirl to Egypt's tombs & pyramids, Hunter McDonald & Kat Adair flirt, fall in love, find treasure, and fight the bad guys. A word of caution, the summary blurb on the back of the paperback edition is wildly misleading and not completely accurate.

Historical romance with accent on romance. The daughter of a struggling artist in 1890s London finds herself propelled into High Society after she rescues a member of the posh set from drowning. Disillusionlment follows, then a heated romance with a Rhett-Butler-like figure, an archaeological trip to Egypt⦠and then things get kind of unlikely.

I could barely tolerate this one. Read 30 to 40 pages, then skimmed to see if anything interesting happened. Very little emotional content or character development. Actually, very little apparent romance.

Typical historical romance novel that partly takes place in Egypt, which I enjoyed. I did notice a few type-os, but overall a good easy read.

Book Description
From elite London society to the golden sands of Egypt . . . and the sacred places of her heart . . .
When Kat Adair plunges into the waves to rescue a drowning man, it is just the beginning of an odyssey that will sweep the fisherman's daughter into danger and desire. Convinced she is in love with the man she saved, Egyptologist David Turnberry, she feigns amnesia, thus enabling her to linger among the highborn. Hunter MacDonald, rugged archaeologist, is wise to her little charade -- and determined to protect his best friend.

Undaunted, Kat stows away on the ship carrying David and Hunter's expedition party to the land of the pharaoh. Scandal ensues, and Hunter vows the only way to curtail this confounding woman's schemes is to marry her. Inevitably, in the sultry heat of the desert, passions ignite. But as the secrets of the ancient tombs are revealed, terrible danger unfolds, and Kat must trust the one man willing to risk everything to save her from doom.

The further adventures of the Egyptologists, with Kat Adair joining Hunter MacDonald and the Count and Countess of Carlyle to a dig near the pyramids. Very entertaining.
