this book is about a woman who abandons the Amish life and discovers that she misses it. She discovers the real meaning of having Christ in your life. Very good!!!

As with The Confession, I really enjoyed the "Englisher" side of the story, but I was really intrigued as Katherine started taking on more Amish ways of life and introducing them to her friends and staff. I thought the volunteer work she did was fantastic and I loved the way she started a quilting group and even invited some Amish neighbors to join in.

The characters were great in this book, though I did think it had a few too many subplots. I was happy to see Katherine's friend Mary finally get married but other than that, I didn't care about any of the other character's plots.

All in all, I thought this was a good conclusion to the series, though The Confession remains my favorite book of all three. What I wanted to have happen didn't, but I think the ending was a good compromise for the entire series. I should also add that this is probably my favorite series I've read so far by Beverly Lewis.

The books are hard to read because you want things to happen & it seems like everyone is making the wrong choices. The thing about this series is that it teaches you that sometimes when you have to make hard choices in life God will always look out for you. Some times you have to give up things for God & love, but God is always there to give you something better. If you still have not read them all you have to read them all to the end. You will be happy you did.

Great wrap up to the series. You still will want to know what continues to happen even once your done. If so, look for October Song- author continues the story there.

A really good series. An adopted daughter to an Amish family, finds her real mother and lives that 'fancy' life for a time. When circumstances change she is left with a choice, but this one is made much easier and much more freely than the one she had to make when she seeked out her mother in the first place.

It is the third and final book in the Heritage of Lancaster County trilogy. We find out what happens to Katherine Mayfield (Katie Lapp) and how she reconciles her "fancy" side with her "Plain" side. Of the three books in the series, this one felt the "preachiest." I think what bothered me is that at the end of the second book, Katherine discovered Christ through discussions with her dying mother, but at the start of this book, she dismisses all of that as just the grieving process. I think that made this book feel repetitive since Katherine spends the whole book learning the same thing she just learned in the previous book! Maybe it's just me, but this bothered me. Anyway, Katherine has been living the "fancy" life since the death of her birth mother in the second book. She loves clothing, the finer things in life, and has started a relationship with a local painter named Justin. However, she can't help but feel that something's still missing in her life, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn to things that remind her of her Plain life. She can't go back to that, in fact she doesn't really want to go back to being Amish, but she can't get fully content with her new life either. Meanwhile, Daniel, her first love, can't seem to get Katherine out of his head, but she can't be with him the way he wants her to be. How can she make herself happy? Meanwhile, Katherine's Amish best friend, Mary is dealing with the fact that she's developed feelings for the bishop, Katherine's original intended and the person who put the shunning on her. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the other two in the series, but it was still a worthwhile read to find out what ends up happening to Katherine and the others.

Katherine Mayfield (aka Katie Lapp) has the fancy "English" life she's always wanted, and a handsome suitor, as well. Yet something still seems to be missing...

This is the third book in the trilogy; the first is The Shunning; the second is the Confession. I found that this book in the series doesn't stand well on its own; it really helps if you have read the first and second books.

A little "preachy" and too coincidental in parts, but overall, the series is an entertaining story about Katherine (aka Katie) and her loves, losses, and new life.

This is the newest edition of this series. I read books 1 and 2 of this series and now book 3, of the Lancaster county series. These books were interesting about the amish way of life. Beverly Lewis truly did her homework before writing these books. I love when an author can truly captivate the Lord's love and grace. Mrs. Lewis certainly did this. It was very interesting to see how the amish live. Also, it's good to see that the Amish can be transformed through Jesus Christ. A heart warming series that will stay in my heart.

Katie gives up her mansion to the hospice and marries dan, moving back to the hollow by her relatives and she and Dan become Mennonites. Mary marries the bishop.Rebecca comes to Katie's wedding and invites her and Dan over to dinner. A beautiful ending.

The book was a good read. However, I was a bit disappointed that it seemed very contrived; whole "sections" missing the author just didn't deal with them. It would ruin the "surprise" ending if I went into details but some of the important things where just glossed over without any real explainations. I personally found it dissappointing and hard to believe that Katherine (the heroine) would not have dealt with these things in a very personal compassionate and strong manner. For example many of her decisions would alter the lives of innocent people and I find it very hard to believe that she did not "look out" for them or explain in detail why she did some of the things.
