Topic: need recommendations re early American Women

NEVERMIND...I found out I was in the wrong forum -thank you for looking, though!

 

I read mostly historical fiction and Great Britain history.  It's been a real learning experience to read what horrors the women had to go through back-in-the day to get a divorce! Her husband could just have her commited if she made noises for a divorce~

So I'm really curious if there are any good books out there - historical fiction or otherwise, that tells more of what the early American women went through once they arrived and grew up in America - did they follow English laws?  Was it any easier?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions - to me it is amazing what women have endured over so many years.  Thanks!
