I enjoyed this book. It was part two of the story of the Irish hero that I came to know through reading Trinity. Trinity blew me away so I had to see what happened next, but I did find myself becoming impatient as the author would often reiterate scenes that I already knew from the first book. I admit I skimmed over a few of those sections. I'm not sure if it was the captivating way that the story was written, or learning for the first time of the shocking history of Ireland and the brutally unfair treatment of its people, but I will not forget these two books. Uris did a great job of using this story to dramatically capture the essence of that time and place.

An epic story of three Irish families as only Leon Uris can tell it.
