Hi

I am updating my bookshelf.  The 'long way' to do it is for me to search for the books in my bookshelf and if they're not there, post them on PBS.  If I post a book directly on PBS without checking first, will it alert me that I already have that book on my bookshelf?  I don't want it to appear as though I have 2 copies of the same book...I don't have 2 copies of any books here at home!  Will PBS just not allow me to post a book if it's already on my bookshelf (which I'm hoping)?

It seems I've already screwed up...I posted a book into the system and apparently it was already on my bookshelf...and now they are on hold waiting for 2 people  to indicate that they still want this wishlist book...but I only have 1 copy of this book!  I was hoping PBS just wouldn't allow it in the system if a copy was already on my bookshelf, but apparenlty this one went through as if I had 2 copies of the same book ARGH!!

I guess I have to do it the long wayy....search for it first on my bookshelf, and then post it if it's not there yet?

thanks!

You shouldn't be able to post two copies of a book into the system. I think what happened with the WL book is that there was a glitch because the first copy was pending. You'll have to wait for the second one to be accepted and then cancel with apologies, explaining that the system double-posted it.

The only way to have the same book listed twice is if they have different ISBNs (I have had both HC & PB versions and been able to post both because of different ISBN numbers).

Also, once you've posted a book, set it aside.  Make a spot (a box, bag, whatever) in your house specifically for books you've posted here.  That way, everything's together so you only have one spot to look in when the book's requested and you also know what books you have that are posted and which books you have that are not posted.

You shouldn't be able to post two copies, but I have seen multiple instances of it happening. I recently ordered a book from someone who had two identical copies, ISBN and all, on her shelf.

Yeah, it let me post two of the same ISBN recently, which was good, since I actually had two copies.
