Never tease anything that wants to eat you.

April Tate lives in a bunker outside of Las Vegas with her mom and little brother. A year ago a virus turned most of the population into blood seeking creatures. A routine trip to the Strip goes horribly wrong when mom Helen and brother Jeremy are kidnapped. In a rage, April starts killing nests of the feral vampires. Much to her surprise she meets a hybrid vampire that offers help in locating Helen and Jeremy.

This is an action packed story that deviates from the usual vampire story.I enjoyed the aspect of different levels of infection in individuals. The science behind the cure is intriguing and the concept of bonded mates makes me want to continue with the series to see where the story will take us. An enjoyable read that was difficult to put down.
