I read this book a long time ago and i can't remember the name or author. It was about this girl that gets trapped in a snowstorm with a stranger for a weekend or a couple days and, of course, they fall in love. She goes home intending to leave her husband and when she gets back finds out that he's in the hospital.  She writes the stranger a note explaining why she'll be late and gives it to her mother to mail. her mother switches out the note for a very formal thank you note and sends that out instead which, of course, makes the stranger think that shes not coming.  I can't remeber if he was supposed to respond and doesn't or they're supposed to meet and he doesn't show up, but however it happens the girl thinks that the guy is no longer interested in her. Then, sometime later (no idea how long), he shows up and kidnaps her and takes her to his cabin in the middle of the woods and keeps her there ( can't remember if it was for revenge or to make her fall in love with him or what). Of course they fall in love etc etc. I know that it was winter when he kidnaps her.

If any has any idea what book this is, I would be totally thrilled.

Thanks

It sounds good whatever the title is!

Do you remember if it was one of the category books (these tend to be short, less than 250 pages) or a longer length book?

It was average romance novel length. Prob 200-300 pages. I know it's an older romance book, prob 80s or 90s. It was really good, actually the first romance novel I read. I'm pretty sure it was harlequin. It was on of the ones where the cover was all white with a small/medium oval pic on the front.

OK I don't know if this is the book.....let me know please.....

Prisoner of Shadow Mountain
by  Mariel Kirk

HR-2786
Sep-1986
ISBN: 0373027869

Wouldn't she remember if she'd been married?

Successful fashion model Janiver Parmalee had been en route to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, when her small plane crashed into the snow-covered Rockies. Luckily Garrett Collier, a prominent Denver entrepreneur, spotted the wreckage from his mountain cabin and pulled her to safety.

When Janiver regained consciousness, her mind was a blank slate. Empty! She only knew she was immediately drawn to the tall, ruggedly handsome stranger who'd saved her life. And the prospect of being stranded with him seemed somehow comforting.

Until Garrett gave her the small paper bag he'd found on the plane that contained a wedding band!

Nope, not it. She knew she was married and it was someone that she married out of duty or something like that. Not a bad marriage, just a loveless one. Her family really wanted her married to her husband, they liked him alot. Could have been for financial reasons, but I'm not sure about that.

I think the title had something about winter or snow or cold in the title. I know that's a bazillion different titles, but it might help.

"It was on of the ones where the cover was all white with a small/medium oval pic on the front."

OK, I been looking and looking for a Harlequin Presents since that's the white book with oval pic on it. And I'm not getting anything.......Do you remember any names? Are you sure about it being that book cover description? I am getting hits for other books that are simliar but not sure.....I'm about to look at all HPs from 80's to 90's.  Hmmm do you remember what the picture looks like?

No idea what the picture looks like. 85%-90% sure that that was the cover. I don't rmember any names at all. It's been nearly 10 years since I read this. I'm almost positive that the title has something to do with winter or cold, though. Prob doesn't help though. The girls name might start with an S, but I could be wrong. No level of certainty about that.

Winter's Heart
by  Cathryn Ladame

Series: SR-55
Date: Jan-1981
Publisher: Silhouette
ISBN: 0671570552

Maria Vernon had no idea who her rescuer was the night that she nearly froze to death in a sudden Maine blizzard. She had come to New England for a brief vacation before going home to her parents in the Northwest.

The last thing that she expected was to be snowbound in the isolated cabin of world-famous author Alec Gideon. Nor had she expected to find this brooding, difficult man so dangerously attractive.

He saved her from certain snowy death--but could she save herself from an ill-fated love and this man she couldn't resist?
