One day, when I went into my Reminder List, the books were sorted such that the available ones were listed first.  I found this to be quite helpful/cool.  But then I had to sort by a different way, and now I can't get things back to "available first" order (it's not a sort option).  Is there a way to get this back?

I've never seen that, I never resorted my WL and it has always been by title, not where I was in line or what was available.  I know you can sort it by the date you requested it.

The reminder list automaticlly moves available books to the top of your list until you or someone else requests that book, if you don't request it but someone else does, it moves back to where it was on your list to begin with..

My reminder list doesn't seem to work that way -- with available books at the top. But I do not what she is talking about because I did once have the very same thinking I thought "Cool! all the books I can order now are right here!" ... and not since.

ooooh, reminder list, I'm such a dork!  I need to read more carefully.  I agree that mine are that way too, whatever is available is at the top and goes down from there (most copies to no copies)

I think if you do a hard refresh (hold the CTRL key when you click the refresh button) it will resort your list - also possibly if you log out and then back in it might too.

Yes it does undo that if you resort.  I had posted a link before, but it got buried a long time ago.

Here it is:

Resort List

That will resort it for you so the ones available are at the top again.

How long do posts stay in the system before they are deleted? I use this thread to resort my list. I have no idea how to make my list do this without the link in this thread. The control key-refresh thing doesn't fix it for me :(

Yeah the same thing happened to me.  No matter how I sort it now the ones w/0 copies are mixed in with the available ones.

hard refresh (hold the CTRL key when you click the refresh button)

If that's not working try F5 and Ctrl at the same time.  Worked for me.

yeah, CTL/F5 doesn't reorder it for me either. CTL/refresh and CTL/F5 both seem to think the default order is alphabetical.

I am bumping this because I don't ant it to automatically delete from the system for getting too old.

Do Resort and Choose Date and Descending.. that will put the newest added ones back at the top.

It will generally stay the way you last sorted until you have to relogin with ID/password.

ETA:  I misread the original question.  I have never seen a sort that puts the available ones up top, only sorts by author, title, or date.

Ironically, when I'm at work where I'm using a windows operating system and Intenet Explorer, my reminder list comes up with the available books at the top (which I like very much).  However, at home, where I'm using a Linux operating system and Firefox, my reminder list comes up in alpha order (with the option to sort by author and date) and nothing seems to work to make it sort with the available books at the top.

I live by the link in this thread. If it weren't for that link, I would never see the available books. I have a RL of over 800. I can only order books if I know they are posted. Can't see which ones are posted without the link. I have WAY too many pages to scroll through searching!

To help yourself remember this link (since I know many of us have forgotten it more than once,

  • add yourself to your buddy list, (and of course accept the invitation)
  • put this info in a PM to yourself with the appropriate title, in this case "RL resort link" then
  • send it to yourself. I then
  • Archive the msg and
  • tag it KEEPS, then I can find all the notes I've made to myself!
