So i requested a book this morning, got an email confirming the request but on the site i do not see the credit deducted nor it added to the list of books requested. is it possible the other person cancelled? Wouldn't i get notified though? I'm afraid to request another copy and get sent two.

Go to your account and find transaction archive. Look for that book if its been canceled it will be there.

They will send an email not a PM to say it was cancelled.  Maybe the person couldn't find the book or couldn't meet your conditions if you had any.

If a sender clicks Cancel Order

• The request will cancel automatically, and will be passed along to another member offering a copy of the same book. 
  • the requestor will NOT get an email when this happens.
  • the requestor will be able to tell that the request has passed along because the request date will have changed.
• If there is no other copy of the book available, the book will go back onto the requestor's Wish List and the requestor will get the credit back.
  • the requestor WILL get an email when this happens.
