Love 'em or hate 'em (and there are very few people in-between), Wal-Mart is a certainly force to be reckoned with in the global economy. Lichtenstein does an excellent job at highlighting the reasons they are, and how they got there. The book is loaded with interesting tidbits, such as how the bar code revolutionized Wal-Mart's ability to turn the tables on suppliers, and exactly how much of the material this "All-American" company gets from China. Lichtenstein lets his bias show through in some spots, especially in discussions about how anti-union Wal-Mart is, but it isn't overwhelming.
