While this book does offer the specific suggestion of what should be done differently in the treatment of diabetes (encourage patients to eat a low-carb, high fat diet) what makes it impressive and fascinating is its exploration and explanation of how the history of diabetes treatment got us to the place we are today. It reminds us of how science research is supposed to work without vilifying people who were making their best guesses along the way.
