I bought a book brand new at Border, read it and posted it on PaperBackSwap on 8-23-07. My question is why are there reviews of this book from April and May, one of which states that the cover is an older version and that the book isn't in great shape? Can anyone help me out here? |

Well k Im gonna guess that the book you bought was a reprint of a book that was published before therefor yours is a new copy but the book isnt new. |

Sounds like someone incorrectly listed the condition of their book rather than reviewing the book. |

It was Son Of The Morning by Linda Howard. I can understand that it might be a re-release, but why would someone put that the cover wasn't in great shape? Unless they were describing a copy that they had. But that review makes it sound as if my copy of the book is bad, which it isn't! |

This is the main reason there has been a recent effort to "clean up" book reviews (More Reviews to Clean Up, etc.). There is some debate as to whether or not marking reviews with a "thumbs down" is an effective way of doing this, but the point is to try and get rid of conditions in the reviews so there isn't this kind of confusion. Nancy, book reviews are supposed to be just that-reviews. Some people don't understand that the reviews gets posted for the "general" book in the system, not just their own personal copy. (I don't feel that I'm doing a great job of explaining this-anybody more eloquent want to jump in and help?) |

No I understand what you're saying, just that people should be told what a review should be comprised of. What she said makes it look like she knows something about the book that I have. Oh well I'm not going to sweat it! If I don't get rid of it LOL maybe I'll end up reading it again after awhile! It was a great story! |

Kristen, you did a perfectly fine job of describing the situation and the problem. Some people just don't understand what the review is for. If you post the link to that particular edition, in the topic mentioned by Kristen (More reviews to clean up), the incorrect reviews will receive thumbs-down ratings from other members so that people know this is not a review to look at. There is also supposed to be a feature in the future that removes these incorrect reviews, or at least places them at the bottom of the list of reviews. |

This sounds like a stupid question, but how do I link the book to the forum group (Reviews to be cleaned up) |

Im totally confused now? What do the dates matter if its just a condition review? |

I think she was wondering how someone could post that her book had a different cover or whatever when she had just bought it, not realizing at her first post, that the review was not about HER book, but was attached to her book. She now is aware that it was not about her book, but is a review attached to THE ISBN that her book has, and has had previous copies posted to it as well as previous reviews on the title. I think, she knows this now, anyway :) Oh, and to post the link to the book, click the book cover, which will take you to the detail page and will show the reviews as well. Once there, copy the Internet address from the Address bar of your browser, and that is what you paste into your post in the topic about reviews. Let me know if you have troubles with it. hahahaha, Chris, I'm just better at figuring out questions because I answer so many. I work with a lot of people in real life as a volunteer for questions, so I'm used to figuring out what the question is, so that I can answer it!!! hahahaha |
