Rhi (Rhiannon) is CEO of her own company, Crush (a dating ap). She was able to found Crush with the help of her best friend, Katrina (who remains a shadow investor). Rhi has been burned before and is untrusting of love. She isn't in the market for a relationship and has occasional hook-ups.
Samson is a retired football star. He walked off the field after his best friend suffered a severe hit and concussion and wasn't treated properly for it. Both his father and uncle were famous football stars who had health problems from repeated head injuries after retirement. He is passionate about advocating for CTE research.
Anyway, they had meet before during a hook-up. They met on Crush. And agreed to meet a second time. Until Samson ghosted her. They run into each other again at an event Crush's rival company, Matchmaker is putting on. It turns out, Samson had a really good reason and there was so much more to the story.
I enjoyed this so much. I didn't always understand Rhi's trust issues, but she was able to address them by the end of the book. Samson was the highlight in this one. He was the perfect book boyfriend. This book was both light and funny at times, and serious at others. Many serious issues are addressed in this (CTE in the NFL, sexual harassment in the tech world). I'm very interested in Katrina's story!
